Frequently Asked Questions About Lauren and the Approach

The Capability Program

I’m a mental health occupational therapist, practice owner, MHFA Instructor and educator. I’ve spent years working at the intersection of clinical mental health and the health and disability sector, and I now help professionals build real, lasting capability in mental health practice through education, coaching and community.

Most mental health training stops at awareness — recognising signs, knowing the right language, understanding that mental health matters. That’s important, but it’s only the starting point. My work focuses on what comes after awareness: the confidence and skill to actually do something with what you know. To hold a difficult conversation. To sit with distress without rushing to fix it. To know what’s within your scope and when to refer. Capability means you can act, not just notice.

I work primarily with health and disability professionals — allied health practitioners, support workers, team leaders, coordinators and managers who encounter mental health challenges in their work every day but didn’t necessarily train for it. If your work brings you into contact with people who are struggling, and you want to respond with more skill and less second-guessing, my programs are built for you.

No. While some of my clients are clinicians (occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers), many are disability support workers, team leaders and coordinators who don’t have a clinical background but are doing deeply human work that regularly intersects with mental health. My programs meet you where you are professionally and build from there.

It’s the foundation of everything I teach. The framework has three pillars: The Foundation (understanding mental health beyond the basics), In the Room (the practical skills for responding when it counts), and Sustainable Practice (how to do this work without burning out). Every product, program and workshop I offer is built around this framework.

It’s my signature six-month program for health and disability professionals who want to fundamentally shift the way they work with mental health. It includes 13 core modules built around The Mental Health Capability Framework, live group coaching calls, a private community, and bonus resources. It’s not a course you watch and forget — it’s a structured learning experience with coaching, practice and community woven through.

You’ll work through the 13 modules over the first 8–12 weeks, with new content released progressively. The remaining months are dedicated to integration, coaching and community support — this is where the real shift happens, because you’re applying what you’ve learned in your own practice with guidance and peer support around you.

Plan for around 2–3 hours per week during the module phase. That includes working through the content, completing any reflection activities, and joining the live calls. During the integration phase, the time commitment is lighter and more flexible.

You won’t lose access. All module content is available on the platform for as long as the program is live, so you can move at your own pace. The live calls and community are there to keep you connected even if your module progress is slower than planned.

Yes. You can pay in full at $1,997 (AUD) or choose a six-month payment plan at $367 per month.

Because you receive full and immediate access to all program materials upon enrolment, no cancellations or refunds are available. I’d encourage you to book a Fit Call before enrolling so we can talk through whether it’s the right fit for where you are right now.

While The Capability Program is not a formally accredited course, the content is directly relevant to professional development in mental health practice. Most professional bodies accept self-directed learning and professional development activities toward CPD hours — check with your registration or accreditation body for their specific requirements.

Absolutely. Many participants are sole practitioners or work in small teams. The group coaching and community components give you something that’s hard to find when you work alone: a space to reflect on your practice, test your thinking, and hear how other professionals are navigating similar challenges.
